Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Swank you!

  • GoldenEye Resort, Race Course, Oracabessa, Jamaica W.I.
  • Price guide: $$$$$
  • We loved: The shabby-plush vibe of our villa -- think Jamaican beach-shack done luxuriously -- and in particular the outdoor living space with its epic view of the lagoon; the three bars to choose from, boasting the most authentic Jamaican music we experienced anywhere on the island; the dock and kayak that comes with every room on the lagoon: hop in and get paddling to explore the water village along the GoldenEye canal (including the original Fleming villa, where Beyonce and Jay-Z have since stayed.)

This legendary Jamaican hideaway just outside Ocho Rios has a relaxed Caribbean vibe with a touch of elegance thrown in. This large property is Ian Fleming’s former home, where he wrote the first 13 Bond novels.

With 49 rooms, villas, and beach huts, the resort captivates with an eclectic blend of shabby-chic charm and modern finesse. But you might be surprised to learn what rooms are the best… you’ll have to watch the video to find out.

From fine dining to beachside barbecues, there’s a variety of ways to eat at GoldenEye. ‘The Gazebo’ serves lagoon-side dishes, while ‘Bizot Bar’ provides a casual, beachy setting with its delectable fare inspired by Jamaican and Mediterranean cuisines. Whether you’re toasting the sunset with a signature cocktail or savoring a gourmet meal, you probably won’t have to leave the place to eat or drink.

Luxe amenities abound, from the freshwater and saltwater pools to the ‘FieldSpa’. This was the first time I kayaked to the spa. Engage in watersports, stroll through the lush gardens, or simply lounge on the beach. GoldenEye fuses history, luxury, and island magic; there’s a good chance you’ll leave with golden memories.
