Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Swank you!

Come with us, and two local guides, on a 7-day road trip through some of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls, glaciers and epic hiking as we chase the northern lights. Our 7-day Iceland itinerary was put together by Moment, who were offering a trip of a lifetime: a week in the Icelandic wilderness with a professional photographer. I signed up because it looked amazing and the thing I most wanted to see: the Northern Lights. Watch our video to accompany the Swank Guide and nine other photo enthusiasts to explore some of the wildest parts of Iceland and chase the northern lights.

This was our itinerary:

  • Day 1: Exploring the mighty Haifoss Waterfall.
  • Day 2: The colorful mountains of Landmannalaugar and natural hot springs.
  • Day 3: Fjallabak explorations in the valleys of Fjallabak, Skogafoss. On the way – we stop by one of the least visited – yet most beautiful – waterfalls in Iceland, the Ófærufoss Waterfall.
  • Day 4: Glaciers and the black volcanic coast of Dyrholaey. We climbed the Solheimajokull glacier and hit the Dyrholaey lighthouse for sunset.
  • Day 5: A journey to the valley of Thor to experience the beauty that Thor’s valley has to offer.
  • Day 6: Explore the hidden canyon from ‘Game Of Thrones’. Surreal canyons and a hidden waterfall in Thorsmörk.
  • Day 7: Icelandic horses and return to Reykjavik, plus a helicopter ride.
