Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

  • Airbnb
  • Summit Prairie, Tiller, Oregon, United States of America.
  • Price guide: $$$$$

Summit Prairie is a reconstructed U.S. Forest Service fire lookout in the mountains of southern Oregon, outside the tiny town of Tiller. This is part of our best hotels, resorts and Airbnb series for the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver Island, B.C. This Airbnb sleeps up to four people, two in a queen sized bed above the main living area accessed via the ladder traditionally used to climb to the top of the fire tower. There are 2 more built-in sofa-beds in the main living area.

This place is off-grid, but electricity is available from solar panels and some batteries but don’t expect to be charging many things. There’s a complete kitchen but you will need to bring all your own food. There’s a fire pit where you can BBQ near the base of the tower and also a wood-fired hot tub that takes a bit of work to get going, but it’s worth it.
