Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Swank you!

  • The Skylark Hotel, Norman Manley Blvd, Negril, Jamaica W.I.
  • Price guide: $$$$$
  • We loved: The price: we paid just $167/night (including fees), which will vary, of course, per season and availability, but is all the same one of the best prices we've found in Jamaica; the mid-century-inspired concrete block used around the hotel, bringing a Miami Vice meets Art Deco vibe that totally works; Miss Lily's, the hotel restaurant, with cool murals on the wall and a top-notch sound system for nocturnal good times; the free shuttle to sister property the Rock House Hotel (which we review and tour in our next video), including access to its restaurants and facilities.

The Skylark Hotel in Negril, Jamaica is one of our top 10 hotels in Jamaica. In this video we take you on our Jamaica luxury-on-a-budget challenge: we see if we can stay at the Skylark, eat and play for just $200 a day.

In the spirit of classic Jamaican charm, the Skylark’s designers have brought to this place the vibes of a bohemian Miami Beach haven… and just like that, they’ve transformed it way beyond a budget hotel. The calming expanses of the ocean peep back at you from practically every corner of the Skylark. We consider this place to be two acres of heaven on earth, at a great price.

The hotel’s playful design pays tribute to the everyday sights and sounds of Jamaica. Creative reimaginations of common Jamaican elements make their presence felt in the bright, rustic exteriors. From colors through building materials, every bit of this place is a love letter to Jamaica.
