Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

  • Six Senses Fort Bawara, Chauth Ka Barwara, Rajasthan 322702, India
  • Price guide: $$$$$

Tucked away in rural Rajasthan, just under three hours from Jaipur International Airport and an hour from Ranthambore National Park, the Six Senses Fort Bawara is a 14th-century fort transformed into a 48-suite luxury retreat. With two palaces, two Hindu temples (one housing the spa), and sprawling courtyards, this isn’t your average boutique hotel. It’s a fully restored slice of history with a Six Senses spin: opulent, serene, and designed for indulgence.

On the food and drink front, you’ll find three bars and two restaurants offering everything from Mediterranean-inspired dishes by the pool to traditional Indian fare in the atmospheric courtyard. The spa? Vast, OTT luxurious, and worth a splurge, though for $3, you can opt for a poolside champi head massage that might just change your life. There’s also a single courtyard pool (heated jacuzzi off to the side), but serenity-seekers may be disappointed if a gaggle of kids descends. So definitely a family-friendly place, but if I could change one thing, I’d add an adults only pool. But you can always escape to the spa for some quiet.

Who’s it for? Luxury mavens, tiger safari enthusiasts, and anyone who’s ever dreamed of living like royalty without the obligation of governing a kingdom. Whether you’re here to spot Bengal tigers at Ranthambore, or just soak up the ambiance of lantern-lit courtyards and palatial suites, Six Senses Fort Bawara delivers something unique and luxurious.
