Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

  • Sala Samui Choengmon Beach, 10 Baan Plai Laem 9, Bo Put, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani 84320, Thailand
  • Price guide: $$$$$

Sala Samui Choengmon Beach is a mid-sized, design-forward resort tucked into a quiet stretch of Choengmon Beach on Koh Samui’s northeast coast. Just 15 minutes from the island’s airport, it offers easy access without the chaos, making it a great pick for travelers who want to be near the action, but not in it. The resort has 69 villas and suites, many with private pools, set among lush gardens that give the place the feel of a laid-back Thai village.

There’s one all-day beachfront restaurant, and a stylish beach bar. There’s also two pools: one family-friendly and the other blissfully adults-only. The spa is compact but thoughtfully designed, with the gym next door and a shaded yoga deck that hosts classes three times a week. Complimentary paddle-boards and kayaks are available, and for those who like to explore, there are plenty of restaurants, beach bars, and massage spots within walking distance down the beach.

Sala Samui is great for travelers who value design, atmosphere, and peace without needing over-the-top luxury. It’s not a party resort or a high-gloss honeymoon hideaway. It’s better for low-key couples, solo travelers, or families with young kids. The vibe is relaxed but refined, with Thai-modern architecture, friendly service, and just enough polish to feel special without being stuffy.
