Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

  • Price guide: $$$$$

The Pan Treetop Cabins (a.k.a. PAN Tretopphytter) are a set of Norwegian treehouses in the woods, with great architecture and design, and a hidden surprise. Our full tour of this super unique place might just inspire your next trip!

There are three treehouses here, all with a similar design, that sleep 4 or 6 people. The owners can give you those details. The cabins, with their clean, modern lines, seem to float above the trees, making you feel both hidden away and spectacularly open to the wild scenery with forest and lake views. Inside, the vibe is cozy but uncluttered – think more hygge, less fuss. Soaring ceilings and big windows connect you to what we so often overlook: the beauty of nature. It’s the sort of place where you can enjoy your morning coffee with a side of forest views, and if you’re lucky, a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Fun, unfussy, and a little bit magical, these cabins are for those who love the idea of a wilderness retreat but aren’t quite ready to give up their creature comforts. Note there’s no restaurant on site, but there is a full kitchen. Cook inside or barbecue outside like I did.

The closest town, with a few restaurants and grocery stores, is about 15 minutes away. Our advice: get some groceries (and maybe some wine), and don’t leave for two or three days.
