Welcome back to our ‘Norway’s Best Hotels & Airbnb’ series. Today we dive into The Arctic Hideaway, possibly Norway’s quirkiest bargain hotel. Nestled in the Fleinvær Archipelago, with the jaw-dropping Lofoten islands on one side, and the endless Arctic Ocean winking at you from the other, this place is a geographic can of wow!
So, is it a hotel? An Airbnb? Let’s just say it’s a charmingly eccentric blend of both. Think of it as a hotel that plays a bit of hide and seek – with cozy sleeping cabins here, and a dedicated eating cabin, lounge area, wood-fired sauna, and baths dotted around the property.
Created by the jazz maestro Håvard Lund and crafted by the artistic Norwegian architect firm, Fordypningsrommet, the Arctic Hideaway is a haven for those who relish unique designs and are suckers for gorgeous natural settings.
And hey, you can even claim this quirky kingdom for yourself by renting it privately. I cover this in the video, but let me lay it out straight: this place is an adventurer’s paradise, a social butterfly’s dream, and a creative soul’s retreat. It’s perfect for those who don’t mind a mini-hike to the bathroom from the tower room (yes, really!) and cherish the idea of unplugging and mingling with fellow creatives. But… if you’re looking for luxury, a smorgasbord of restaurants, and need to know what’s happening next, and at what time… this won’t work for you.
