Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Swank you!

  • La Casa Que Canta, Camino Escénico a, Playa La Ropa S/N, Playa la Ropa, 40880 Zihuatanejo, Gro., Mexico

La Casa Que Canta is Zihuatanejo’s most expensive hotel. As part of Swank’s best hotels in Zihuatanejo series, we’ll tour you through this resort with an amazing view of Zihua Bay. We’ll show you through the whole hotel, and the room we stayed in. We also snuck into the hotel’s most expensive roomm and we’ll show you that too. We’ll share our experience at Mar Y Cielo Restaurant, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant.

The hotel features 25 rooms, each offering some elements of local design which might be considered rustic or traditional rather than sleek modernity. We found the decor to lean towards tired and formulaic. Rooms include amenities like minibars and air-conditioning, and many have balconies or terraces that offer expansive views of the bay, some with private plunge pools.

The hotel’s best features, besides the view, are the two swimming pools—an infinity pool and a saltwater pool—each designed to complement the natural landscape. Dining at Mar y Cielo, the hotel’s restaurant, provides guests with an opportunity to enjoy meals that blend international and Mexican culinary traditions, often accompanied by the picturesque sunsets over the bay. Although lacking direct beach access, the hotel compensates with its peaceful location and facilities like a spa and fitness center, geared towards those seeking relaxation and detachment from the digital world.
