The entrance is deliberately unmarked. If you want Grand Canal views, book specifically for them; most rooms face the rooftops or the alley. The all-white rooms are a deliberate contrast to the dark public spaces — don’t expect consistency, that’s the point. Terrace is closed in winter and shoulder seasons. Palazzo Grassi contemporary art gallery is literally next door — worth building your itinerary around.

Food + Drink On-site surprises
The restaurant occupies the hotel’s most dramatic space — a baroque ground-floor hall framed by 19th-century columns and two seven-metre tables, one marble, one mirrored glass. Breakfast through dinner, Mediterranean and Italian with a contemporary edge. The Lounge is where the hotel’s social life actually happens: dark wood, Murano glass chandeliers, good cocktails. For serious aperitivo, the Krug Champagne Bar adds a layer of theatre that suits the building perfectly. The food is solid rather than destination-worthy — you’re not coming here for a culinary pilgrimage, but you won’t be disappointed either. Breakfast in particular gets consistently strong reviews.
