Vibes
Bidazzled
Welcome to Zihua’s priciest perch, where the views are intoxicating enough to make you forget about the Wi-Fi that works like a Magic 8-Ball (mostly “outlook not so good”). The 25 rooms spread across enough stairs to make your Fitbit file for overtime, while the decor seems stuck in a 1990s time warp that even the spectacular sunsets can’t quite excuse. At least the plastic tables at breakfast ensure you won’t forget you’re in Mexico, though the coffee might make you wish you weren’t. No beach access, but the two-minute walk to Playa la Ropa offers a chance to justify that second helping at Mar y Cielo. Kids must be 16 or older.

Food + Drink On-site surprises
The culinary program suffers from a severe case of split personality: Mar y Cielo serves up sophisticated evening fare (7/10) with views that could make a fish swim upstream, while the breakfast venue seems determined to remind you of a highway rest stop (4/10, thanks to coffee that tastes like a practical joke). Dionne Warwick and Kenny G provide the soundtrack, presumably because that’s what the designer thought luxury meant in 1992. At least the sunset views are reliable enough to make you forget about both the music and the morning coffee – though perhaps not simultaneously.
