You’ll want a car. Casa Newton sits between Pienza and Montepulciano, public transport is limited, and the final road is unpaved. The upside: you’re surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the Val d’Orcia instead of tour buses. There’s no full spa, but there is a sauna, gym and in-room massage. Two rooms — Rosmunda and Monica — are designed for reduced mobility and have lift access. Pets aren’t allowed except pre-arranged assistance or guide dogs.

Il Cervo handles the guest-only breakfast and lunch, with breads, pastries, regional meats and cheeses in the morning, then handmade pasta and garden-led salads later on. A short walk from the villa, Ortus Restaurant serves lunch and dinner with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients and cooking over fire and embers. Then there’s the bar: Tuscan-inspired cocktails, small plates and a seriously good-looking room that makes staying for another round very easy.
