Boath House closed briefly in early 2025 and reopened under new management with renewed energy. Restaurant Moine (formerly The Dining Room) is headed by a chef with a solid reputation. The property recently added a farm shop and is developing experiential offerings including whisky tastings (featuring Boath House whisky), distillery tours, and woodland spa treatments around the existing sauna. The 20-acre grounds are great for wandering, with walled gardens, a lake, and hammocks scattered throughout, but you can sometimes hear road noise. Writer’s cabins offer more privacy and intimacy than main house rooms.

Food + Drink On-site surprises
Restaurant Moine, led by chef Iain Nicholson, serves a four-course menu highlighting seasonal Highland cuisine—think Scottish asparagus, Fife buffalo, hand-dived Orkney scallops, and early strawberries. The kitchen draws heavily from the estate’s walled gardens, making “hyper-local” more than marketing speak. The Garden Cafe offers casual all-day dining perfect for families and locals, while the new farm shop sells estate produce. Previous management earned Michelin recognition; the new team is building toward that legacy while establishing their own identity. Breakfast showcases Scottish eggs and produce with elegant simplicity… no buffet here.
