Food + Drink On-site surprises

A famous Chianti butcher’s first Florence restaurant—under a glass dome, inside a former monastery.

The headline act is Cecchini in Città, the first Florence restaurant from eighth-generation Panzano butcher Dario Cecchini, of Netflix’s Chef’s Table. The grill sits inside a massive fireplace beneath the courtyard’s glass dome, creating a genuinely dramatic setting. There are two ways to dine, the communal Cecchini Griglia tasting, around €70, with seatings at 1pm and 8pm, starting with “Chianti Sushi” and bistecca, or the à-la-carte Cecchini Famiglia. Next door, the dark, red, Negroni-forward Companion Dolceamaro bar, described as “a church for alcohol,” has a traditional wine window serving drinks directly to the street. For something more casual, I Golosi alimentari offers panini, coffee and local goods in a playful space decorated with hanging crochet salumi.
