Stuff You Should Know

Sound travels here—nearby bars can be loud until around 10 pm. Hot water can be inconsistent, and mornings sometimes feel slow until staff fully open the common areas. The pool is small and best for cooling off rather than swimming.

Rooms across the three wings differ slightly because of the building’s history; the annex across the street offers more privacy but less of a classic hotel feel. Service is warm, and the interiors have real charm. If you value design, atmosphere, and location over big-hotel polish, this place delivers.

Fresh Sri Lankan Meets Casual Courtyard Bistro

Fort Printers runs everything from a single kitchen—39 Bistro & Wine Bar—but the dining experience shifts depending on where you choose to sit. Up front, the main restaurant near the entrance feels elegant and townhouse-like. Toward the back, there’s a stand-alone bar (separate from the restaurant) for drinks, coffee, or a casual pause. The courtyard and poolside areas offer relaxed spots for meals, especially in the evenings when the atmosphere turns warm and intimate. The menu focuses on fresh seafood, Sri Lankan flavors, and Mediterranean-leaning dishes. Breakfast is simple and well prepared, with both Western and Sri Lankan options.
