Stuff You Should Know

Each cabin is named after Scottish lighthouses Fingal once serviced, with historical photos lining corridors. The preserved engine room features a glass walkway over original machinery - truly spectacular. Outdoor deck areas may close for bad weather.

Tram service to the city center operates from a nearby station. Some booking packages include complimentary Royal Yacht Britannia tickets. The ship's history as a working lighthouse tender from 1963-2000 is beautifully preserved throughout. It’s a ship, so most of the rooms aren’t huge.

Scottish Maritime Dining Excellence

The Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar delivers solid Scottish cuisine in an authentically nautical setting beneath a shimmering ceiling. The kitchen uses seasonal produce from local suppliers, creating memorable breakfast experiences, elegant afternoon teas, and fancy (think over-priced) dinner menus. The restaurant accommodates both hotel guests and external diners, with 2 AA Rosettes recognizing culinary excellence. A nice cocktail menu complements the dining experience, served in a truly unique maritime atmosphere. The breakfast alone - praised consistently by guests - justifies the stay, offering everything from continental options to full Scottish breakfast. Evening dining transforms the space with subtle lighting and good service that matches the ship's heritage.
