Chateau Denmark

Overview

A ‘deconstructed’ hotel scattered across 16 buildings on one tiny London street. Victorian bones meet punk-psychedelic design, with rooms so well-stocked you might never leave – which is saying something, given you’re on the edge of Soho.

  • Rooms
  • 44
  • Periods of closure
  • Open year-round.
  • Food + Drink
  • No hotel restaurant, but Tattu (modern Chinese) sits on top of the lobby building, and the hotel’s own bar Thirteen is across the street.

The Highs

  • Room design that makes every other London hotel feel beige
  • A ‘minibar’ that’s actually a full bar – with proper glassware
  • Museum-quality lighting
  • Prime Soho location on a surprisingly quiet street

Stuff You Should Know

This is a small property with no pool, no gym, no spa, and no restaurant inside the hotel – your room IS the experience. Some of the historic buildings have narrow doorways and original staircases with no lift, so flag any mobility concerns when booking. Butler service is via text and genuinely responsive.

The in-room bar setup is extensive (and expensive) – everything from spirits to champagne is available but charged to your room. Tattu upstairs is worth a reservation, and Thirteen across the street is the spot for cocktails and Japanese-inspired small plates. Tottenham Court Road tube station is basically at the front door.

Food and drink

Food + Drink On-site surprises

No Hotel Restaurant? No Problem – You’re in Soho.

There’s no restaurant inside the hotel – which sounds like a problem until you realize you’re sitting in the middle of one of London’s best dining neighborhoods. Tattu, perched on top of the same building as the lobby, serves excellent modern Chinese food (tested by someone who lived in China for 17 years and used to visit Sichuan regularly – it passed). The bar entrance alone is worth the visit, and the dining room is one of London’s most beautifully designed spaces. Across the street, the hotel’s own bar Thirteen does Japanese-inspired small plates and seriously good cocktails in a dark, energetic setting. And if you somehow tire of both, Soho’s restaurant scene is literally at your doorstep.
