- We loved: The pool (of course!), a showstopper and probably the most Instagrammed pool in the world; the funicular ride down to our room, and then again to the restaurant (like a good citizen, we did our duty and checked: no one has died owing to cable snapping or otherwise); the performance put on by the morning mist in the valley; the cabana next to the plunge pool (get down there early to secure a cabana for yourself).

The Hanging Gardens of Bali has Bali’s most epic pool. But is this Bali luxury hotel a great place to stay?
The resort clings to a hillside with views of the valley and a beautiful Balinese temple. The property features 44 villas, each one with a private pool looking down on the surrounding rainforest. The resort is about 25 minutes from the artistic center of Ubud and a 90-minute drive from the international airport. If the pool isn’t relaxing enough, head to the resort’s spa that offers a range of treatments incorporating local Balinese traditions and ingredients.
