Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Swank you!

  • Arenas Del Mar, Junction 4.6km Route 618 turn right onto, Rd to Arenas Del Mar, Puntarenas Province, Manuel Antonio, 60601, Costa Rica
  • Price guide: $$$$$
  • Experience: Beach

Just outside the bustling tourist trap – I mean hub of Quepos, the Arenas Del Mar Resort is your best jumping off point for Costa Rica’s most popular national park, Manuel Antonio. This seaside sanctuary offers 38 rooms, split between 19 hotel-style spaces and 19 suites, all cascading down a lush hillside from the lobby to the beach. If you’re wondering about amenities, rest easy. There’s a spa right below the main restaurant for your relaxation fix, and two pools to cool off in—one near the lobby with great views, and another closer to the beach. But it’s the beach that’s the main event here: secluded and beautiful.

Hungry? Arenas Del Mar has you covered with two dining venues. You can enjoy meals at the main restaurant near the lobby or opt for the beachside restaurant, where you can dine with the waves lapping at your toes. There’s also a bar conveniently located off the lobby, perfect for those much-needed sundowners. For the fitness-inclined, while there’s no gym, the resort offers hiking trails right on the property, and you can easily walk to a much longer beach, via the resort’s trail system, and work off last night’s dessert.

Located about 2.5 hours from San José airport, Arenas Del Mar is perfect for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking to blend beachside relaxation with a touch of adventure. Whether you’re here for the private-ish beach, the sloths hanging out above your beach chair, or the cheeky monkeys that might just join you for a snack, this resort offers a unique Costa Rican experience. So, pack your bags, leave your worries behind, and get ready to explore a slice of pura vida paradise!
