Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

  • Amanbagh Jaipur, Ajabgarh, 301027 Rajasthan, India
  • Price guide: $$$$$

Amanbagh, about 90 minutes outside Jaipur and about four hours from Delhi’s international airport, sits in a secluded corner of Rajasthan, surrounded by ancient hills and a historic lake. Once the hunting grounds of royalty, this retreat feels like it’s hidden from the world, and yet it’s all about what lies within. With just 37 rooms, it’s as exclusive as it gets, and each room brings its own quiet drama: expect high arches, airy courtyards, and private pools if you’re in the right suite.

Dining here is simple, with indoor and outdoor spots to eat, with a mix of local Rajasthani dishes and of course an international menu. Plus, there’s a spa that’s almost monastic, with chanting and incense adding a sacred touch to massages and treatments. For those who enjoy a good balance of doing nothing and doing very little, Amanbagh’s two pools are hard to beat, and the layout lets you soak in the sun or find shade, depending on your mood.

Amanbagh is ideal for the quiet seeker, the “disconnect-me-now” traveler, or anyone who doesn’t mind going a little further for something completely different. Activities like tiger safaris, horseback riding, and local village tours bring a touch of adventure, but, really, this is first and foremost a place to unwind and relax. Come here if you want the kind of luxury that whispers instead of shouts.
