Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

Swank you!

  • Alila Villas Uluwatu, Jl. Belimbing Sari Tambiyak, Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80364, Indonesia
  • Price guide: $$$$$
  • Experience: Couple Getaways
  • We loved: The view on arrival (think: wonderfully framed pools with the ocean glistening beyond and more glisten from an exuberant chandelier above); the spaciousness of the living quarters that'll prompt existential questions of, 'Is this a compound or a villa?'; the poolside cabanas, including the fact there's a number of them, so no hustling and scheming required to secure a good spot; one of the most stunning bars we've ever visited, with the bird's-nest-vibe architecture floating out over the cliff edge.

The Alila Villas Uluwatu is Bali’s most luxurious resort. The architecture, designed by the legendary WOHA, blends the best of modern luxury with the natural beauty of Bali. The 65 palatial suites offer great views of the Indian Ocean from your private garden, complete with your own pool, palapa and dining table.

In terms of the dining options here, first up, we have Cire, serving up contemporary Indonesian cuisine plus western dishes. Then there’s The Warung, where you can try authentic Balinese and Indonesian cuisine in a laid-back atmosphere. This restaurant has an open kitchen and a wood-fired oven, giving you a front-row seat to the cooking. Swank prefers to swing for the patio tables, though, and to be at one with nature.

If you’re looking for some serious R&R, this place has got you covered with a world-class spa and maybe the most beautiful infinity pool ever. Note there’s no beach here, but you could go to some close by beaches in Uluwatu.
