Why should you trust us?

The Swank Guide has partnered with Booking.com and Tripadvisor to provide easy booking links for the hotels we recommend. Why? Because it ensures we can get you the lowest price, and it helps us continue to bring you empowering and entertaining content.

This new booking feature does not signal a change in our total editorial independence or in our status as a fully fan-supported business. Simply put: we have no financial relationship with any hotel or experience we recommend. We do not accept bags of cash, Dodgers tickets, sacrificial animals or blushing flatteries. The only way to get recommended by Swank is if we've tried it, loved it and would recommend it to our family and friends.

  • Alila Diwa Goa, 48/10, Adao Waddo, Majorda, Goa 403713, India
  • Price guide: $$$$$

The Alila Diwa offers a laid-back escape just 30 minutes from Goa International Airport. This 153-room resort spans two distinct vibes: the lively main wing, good for families and social butterflies, and the calmer, more exclusive Club Wing, ideal for those who think vacations are more about lounging and fewer screaming kids. While not directly on the beach, the resort is a short 3-4 minute shuttle ride from the sand and surf. It’s close enough to dip your toes in the Arabian Sea, yet far enough to avoid the chaos of Goa’s fairly busy beach (a secluded beach in Australia, this is not).

Dining is well-covered with four restaurants. The main wing houses The Edge, a poolside spot for casual bites, an all-day dining venue with a mix of North Indian and international cuisine, and Spice Studio, an atmospheric evening-only space serving South Indian specialties. Over in the Club Wing, there’s a Mediterranean-focused restaurant next to its serene private pool. Add to that a gorgeous spa, an expansive gym, and sprawling grounds that are nice (if a bit maze-like) and you’ve got plenty of reasons to stay put.

This resort was not my favorite in India. But… from a value perspective it really is a very good deal, so a solid choice for families looking to keep kids entertained while parents sip sundowners, or couples seeking a touch of romance in the Club Wing’s quieter setting. It’s not an over-the-top luxury retreat, but the value is undeniable, with entry-level rooms starting at $120 in the low season and the Club Wing upgrade offering extra perks (private pool access, all-day breakfast, high tea, and cocktails) for just $40 more most of the year. If you don’t need a beachfront cabana to feel like you’re on holiday, The Alila Diwa might just be your ticket to a well-priced Goan getaway.
