Stuff You Should Know

The food situation plays hard to get - breakfast buffet flirts with excellence while lunch and dinner play hide and seek with pre-packaged sushi. The Lava Restaurant next door offers salvation but at high prices. The entire property is one giant hot tub with rooms attached, and accessibility rates a surprising 7/10 - apparently mineral water floats all boats. Kids under 2 are banned from the lagoons, presumably because they haven't signed the mineral content waiver yet. Nespresso in rooms suggests they know their priorities: caffeination before mineralization. Note there’s a close by geothermal power plant, but does not really impact the views, as the hotel is oriented in the opposite direction.

Breakfast buffet carries the culinary torch alone

The buffet breakfast stands as the sole culinary champion, while lunch and dinner retreat to pre-packaged options that feel like an afterthought. The Lava Restaurant at Blue Lagoon proper offers rescue at prices that might make you choke on your geothermally-warmed water. The bar exists to remind you that some minerals are best taken in liquid form. Consider the 15-20 minute drive to civilization less a journey and more a hunger-motivated expedition.
