Stuff You Should Know

Welcome to Costa Rica's most ambitious game of "Find the Beach" – where your tropical paradise requires a boat commute to get to the resort’s good beach (there's one right there, but it’s sad). Bars multiply like rabbits ensuring you're never more than stumbling distance from a cocktail.

The pricing strategy suggests someone misplaced a decimal point ($1,000-$4,000/night most times of the year), though it feels like a bargain compared to the Four Seasons next door. When the seas are feeling dramatic, the beach shuttle boat takes a sabbatical – consider it forced poolside relaxation.

Food and drink

Food + Drink On-site surprises

Four restaurants in search of an identity

The culinary program aims high but lands somewhere between "ambitious" and "ambivalent" (earning a diplomatic 6/10). Four distinct venues ensure you'll never get bored, just slightly underwhelmed. The tapas restaurant nails ambiance but occasionally forgets about flavor, while the fine dining venue offers surprisingly reasonable prices. The beach restaurant requires nautical navigation skills to access, but at least the boat ride builds an appetite. Breakfast sticks to one venue.
